Harvest Winery Tour

November 11, 12 & 13, 2011
11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Put on your game face and head to the Olympic Peninsula where in between sips of new wine releases or perhaps a “Hot Spirited Apple Wine Toddy” you can try your hand at the “bung hole toss” or a host of other unique “cork games” during the Olympic Peninsula Wineries’ Harvest Wine Tour, November 11 - 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each of eight wineries located in Chimacum, Port Townsend and Port Angeles will entertain visitors with games for fun and prizes while delighting their palates with harvest-inspired appetizers and handcrafted artisan wines.

The $30.00 ticket for the self-guided tour can be purchased at participating wineries during the event.  Tickets entitle participants to a commemorative wine glass and complimentary wine tastings and appetizers at each winery during the event weekend.

OlyCAP logoA portion of proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Olympic Community Action Programs Emergency Services fund which helps people survive poverty in Jefferson and Clallam counties, through assistance with food, shelter, clothing, home heating, work-related transportation and access to health care.  For more information on OlyCAP please visit www.olycap.org.

A tasting fee of $5.00 per winery will apply to non-ticketed visitors.  Get your ticket stamped at all eight wineries and be eligible to enter our gift basket drawing. While children are allowed in the tasting rooms, you must be 21 or over to purchase tickets and/or participate in wine tasting. All ticket sales are non-refundable.

The Olympic Peninsula Wineries encourages responsible wine touring and recommends that you have a designated driver in your group.
Why not make it a weekend?  We invite you to stay overnight in local lodgings and enjoy two delectable days on the peninsula. The Travel Guide provides a list of local lodging and dining options on the Olympic Peninsula.

Please Help Us With Our Goal Of Responsible Wine Service...

  • Be prepared to show your photo I.D. at each winery, you must be 21 to participate in wine tasting
  • It is ILLEGAL in Washington State for a winery to continue to serve or sell wine to any guest who appears intoxicated, even if they have a limo or designated driver
  • Be aware of those around you as you wait at the tasting bar for your sample, make room for others to enjoy the experience as well
  • We recommend limiting the number of wines you sample at each winery
  • We encourage you to take advantage of dump buckets provided for excess wine
Individual Wineries Happenings
1. Harbinger Winery: Take a load off at Harbinger and enjoy some farm fresh and locally foraged bounty along with some newly released wines, including the 2010 Viognier, a white wine that will hold up to the rigors of Thanksgiving Fare; the Dynamo Red,  great for all celebratory occasions; and the 2007 Evolution, which is sure to please the drier sense of humor. Cranberry Bliss will be poured and paired with a "Fungi Focaccia" topped with Golden Glen freshly shaved parmesan, chanterelles, fresh fall apples, and cranberry bliss-soaked leeks and cranberries.  Wine infused "Nash's" potato-leek soup will also be served to commemorate the bounty. The Fall Harvest Tour also kicks off Harbinger's annual fundraiser for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.  A kayak will be raffled off (compliments of Adventures Through Kayaking), and all profits from sales of Menagerie, a Merlot blend, will go directly to the local Humane Society.
2. Camaraderie Cellars: The blend of fall colors in the gardens at Camaraderie is stunning!  Blend is the word for this fall event.  Known for our many traditional varietals, for this event we will feature tastes of our fabulous new world blends. Pairings will be with a mélange of harvest root vegetables, sprinkled with local Herbs de Provence, and roasted in our wood-fired oven.
3. Black Diamond Winery: Visitors will enjoy a festive Mulled Syrah wine and Focaccia bread. Plum, Muller Thurgau, Cranberry, Strawberry and Syrah wines will also be available.
4. Olympic Cellars: Sample fall-hearty appetizers such as Harvest Corn Chowder and roasted cranberry scone bites prepared by Chef Dave Long of Oven Spoonful.  New wine releases will include the holiday Cranberry Jubilee and a Vertical Wine Pack, featuring 07, 08, and 09 vintages of Syrah and Cabernet Franc. On Friday, Veterans' Day, the winery will present a screening of the movie Patriot Guard Riders from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Doors will open with light appetizers and a no-host bar at 6:00. A $25 donation supports Peninsula Community Mental Health Center's unfunded veteran service programs. On Saturday, guests can enjoy a special vertical tasting with Winemaker Virginie Bourgue, featuring three Syrah and three Cabernet Franc vintages. Cost is $5 for tour ticketholders; $10 for non-ticket holders.
5. Eaglemount: Visitors will enjoy harvest related bites and sample new wine and cider releases featuring apples from Eaglemount's orchard.
6. Sorensen Cellars: Guests can sample the 2008 Viognier, the non-vintage Point Wilson Red, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot under the Townsend Bay Label, and the 2005 Sorensen Cabernet Sauvignon. Two new releases will also be available, the 2006 Sorensen Syrah and a 2005 Sorensen Merlot. Harvest appetizers will include a rolled flatbread sandwich stuffed with local farmstead cheese, tapenade and local fresh greens.
7. FairWinds Winery: Visit FairWinds Winery and pull a cork for a prize or a purchase discount!  Harvest foods from FairWinds Farm will be offered along with a sampling of cheeses and artisan breads. Come try our latest release of the popular Fireweed Mead and other current releases.
8. Finnriver Farm & Cidery: Taste sweet and savory harvest delights at Finnriver Farm & Cidery while sampling our hard ciders and sumptuous fruit wines.  Cork bottle bowling for those who are game or help us build a cork mosaic on our production room doors.  Greet Pomona, Roman goddess of the apple orchard, appearing "live" this year.  Hot spirited apple wine toddy will be served, with a non-alcoholic spiced cider for designated drivers.
